Dealing with Drugs In Your Rental Properties!
The June Landlording meeting is scheduled from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM this Thursday, June-26, at Tommy’s Pizza 4279 W. Dublin-Granville Rd. (Rte. 161) in Dublin between Riverside Drive and Sawmill Road. Look for the Oakland Nursery sign on the south side of the road. Tommy’s is to the right (west) of Oakland Nursery.
What are we going to discuss at this month’s meeting?
In addition to questions and concerns you may want to raise and discuss about any topic related to real estate purchases, rentals, management, and landlording, Commander Gary Cameron of the Narcotics Bureau of the Columbus Police Department will be joining us around 6:30.
At the time I invited him, I explained that, as landlords, our specific interest has to do with drug activity we may from time to time discover within our units and neighborhoods. Our goal at this meeting will be to gain a greater understanding of when it is appropriate to involve the police and what we should and should not expect from them, what we can do to minimize and get rid of drugs in our units should they come to light, and what we need to understand about the various drugs we might come across – marijuana, crack, cocaine, heroin, meth, illegal prescription drugs and others.
Please write down any questions you may have so that we may address your concerns during the meeting.
Every Columbus REIA meeting and event is a chance to network with and meet with other investors, contractors, attorneys, vendors, and other professionals. Be sure to bring your business cards. Even though the formal meeting ends at 8:00 PM we have the room until about 8:45 so you are always welcome to and you should stay and network to get the most out of the meeting. Additionally, if you have property to sell or a service to provide, you can bring fliers and place them on a table that will be provided*. Just mention to mewhat you want to make available. Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday.
* Please note: Columbus REIA reserves the right to remove flyers it, in its sole and absolute determination, deems inappropriate. Being a good landlord requires experience, so come and benefit from a room full of experienced investors/landlords. Bring your questions and topics to discuss and we’ll work through as many of them together as time permits.
